My favorite series

Hi everyone! In this blog I'm going to talk about my favorite series of all times: Sherlock Holmes. Since I was little I really love stories about mistery, especially the ones with detectives. I like that they give suspense and the final plot twist when the offender is reveal is my favorite part. The stories about Sherlock Holmes comply with all of these things: he is a detective who solves crimes accompanied by doctor John H. Watson. In addition to that, the main character has a particular way to find out and unmask the villain that it is so cool. Even though I know and like this character since before the british series was released, BBC's series adaptation made me fell in love with him (this is also related with the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch portray him jajaja).  Is a series that bring the character of Arthur Conan Doyle to 21th century in an amazing way. I think that I don't have a favorite character separately rather than I like the complement between Sherlock Hol...

Music

Hello everyone! In this blog I'm going to talk about my favorite singer: Francisca Valenzuela. She is a 33 years old chilean artist: she is a singer, composer and instrumentalist. When she launched her first album, "Muérdete la lengua" in 2007, I really liked her songs and I heard it a lot. However, I eventually stoped listening her music until two years ago, when I "rediscovered" her and I fell in love with her work. Besides her album of 2007, she has 3 albums: Buen Soldado (2011), Tajo abierto (2014) and La fortaleza (2020). Like I said, I started listening her music again some years ago but when she launched her last album at the beginning of this year it blew my mind because her lyrics talk about things that really touch me, it's my favorite album.  I think that she talk about things can be happend to anyone, love and heartbreak, our internal struggles and has lyrics that talk about empowerment. I really like in her last work that she talks about importa...

A subject I enjoyed studying this semester

Hello everyone! In this blog I'm going to talk about Social Psychology 2.  In class, the teachers (we have two) talk about differents topics and we have supplementary readings for each one of the lessons. We also have to talk about the texts that we read.      Until now, we have talked about social interaction and the importance that language and symbols have in it, and we have talked about how we understand   power and things related to that. Since this course is about a "field" of social psychology named critical social psycholgy, the topics that we are learning are about different perspectives to see the social phenomena, a way to consider this phenomena that it is different of the hegemonic way.  Is for this different way that I like this subject, it allows me to see many things from another point of view and leatn to be critical about things that I considered "natural" but there are not. In addition to that, this subject allows me to think about the i...

Hello everyone! In the last months the notebook has become my favorite piece of technology. After the computer that we have was messed up because a power cut, we bought this notebook in 2015. Because of the quarantine, I use it for so many things: to study, to do works for univesity, to attend to classes, to do classes, to read, to write, to listen to music, to watch series and movies and I use it to meet my friends and family. Currently, I use it everyday and many hours a day. I like that I can do all the things that I mentioned and that in this difficult times it allows me to stay connected with my friends and family. I think that if I didn't had the notebook it would be complicated because presently is my work and study tool. In spite that I thank all the things that it allows me to do, I hope that we can go back soon to the time when we didn't spent so many hours in front of a screen. I miss spending time with people so much.

Why did I choose psychology?

Hello everyone! I like to tell you a few things before I explain to you guys why I chose psychology. When I was a child I remember that I wanted to be a hairstylist. A couple of years down the line though, while being in secondary school,  I wanted to become a psychologist, but it was just a thought that did not last for too long. After that event,  right about the time when I was getting ready for the PSU,  I decided to get myself into history teaching. Nevertheless, couple of months later on I  changed my mind so I chose to teach math instead because I've always liked that subjet and I was good at it.  During my first experience as a university student I was driven by the idea of becoming a math teacher so I submited my aplication to Pedagoy in Exact Ciencies and I was accepted. This first experience lasted three years. After I finished secondary school I started to do private math lessons and I still do it. In my experience working with teenagers and talking ...

Hello everyone! In this blog I'm going to write about my biography. I was born in Quillota, Chile. I lived in the region of Valparaiso until I was 7 years old, with my younger sister, my mom and my grandmother. Then we moved to Santiago (without my grandmother) to live with my dad.  I studied one year in the primary school Instituto Rafael Aristía and when we move to Santiago I started to studied in the Colegio Universitario el Salvador until I finished secondary school. After that, I started to study pedagogy in exact sciences at the University of Chile. I cursed three years of the career to be a math teacher but I discovered that I want to be a psychologist and now I am studying for that. Inspite of this, I still love to teach math and sometimes I do classes. Currently, I live with my little sister and my mother. I visit my father almost once a week. In addition to my little sister, I have another sister and two brothers, all of them older than me and I have three nephews. In my ...
